V6 Hardened Steel
Rated 0 out of 5£15.00 – £20.16v6 Extra Nozzle - Hardened Steel - 1.75mm x 0.25mmDescription
Paying a little extra for a hardened, wear-resistant nozzle makes both practical and economic sense. By the time you’ve printed a single spool of abrasive filament you’re saving money. It also saves a lot of time as you won’t be constantly replacing worn out nozzles. And you’ll be future-proofed for upcoming materials; E3D is sure that these nozzles should be able to handle just about anything that material manufacturers think of next. Because of the thermal and chemical treatment applied to the nozzle they do have a bit of a dark, sometimes uneven looking coloration and surface finish, and there can be a small amount of residue on the nozzles despite our final cleaning process. The coloration variance is normal and doesn’t affect function. Any residue left on the nozzle will quickly be flushed in the first few millimetres of extrusion, especially if you flush it out with an abrasive filled material! All nozzles in the series are now individually identifiable with markings on the flats of the hex head making them even more convenient to work with. See table for identification. -
V6 Plated Copper Nozzles
Rated 0 out of 5£10.80 – £29.04Description
These nozzles are engineered for ultimate high temperature performance. Made from a special high temperature copper alloy with a softening point of well above 500°C, and with much-increased thermal conductivity, these copper nozzles are perfect for high temperature applications, while working perfectly with everyday filaments like PLA, ABS and spoolWorks EDGE. In addition to high temperature performance these nozzles have an advanced nickel-based plating, considerably reducing the adhesion of plastic to the nozzle. This is great for everyday filaments keeping things clean and shiny, but is particularly important at temperatures above 300°C where a silicone sock can't be used. Copper has more than 3x the thermal conductivity of brass, and the copper alloy used by E3D has been hardened and treated to reduce the oxidation that occurs in copper at high temperatures. The higher thermal conductivity will also slightly increase your heat-up times, and can provide tighter temperature control. This copper-alloy is very temperature resilient, and will not start to soften or anneal until way beyond 500°C, making it perfect for the high-temperature printing that other nozzles can't handle. -
Nozzle X
Rated 0 out of 5Nozzle X Product Description Lulzbot Volcano Nozzle X - 3.00mm x 0.50mm The Nozzle X is our ‘One to rule them all’ nozzle, made from a special alloy of tool steel we have been able to create a nozzle that is immensely hard, but also maintains its hardness to high temperatures without softening. We have also added a layer of hard, slick nickel plating which provides a fantastic balance of cost and wear resistance. The cherry on the top? Our NEW WS2 ‘polyphobic’ nano coating, no longer will you find hot molten polymers sticking to your nozzle. Whilst our hardened steel nozzles are ideal for printing abrasive filaments such as ones loaded with Carbon Fibre, the extreme temperatures can cause the steel to temper and soften, ultimately reducing its abrasion resistance. And then there's our plated copper nozzles, able to cope easily with these immense temperatures but lacking the abrasion resistance required to resist Carbon Fibre. This is where the Nozzle X comes in, a nozzle able to withstand crazy temperatures without softening. By going with a one-piece all-machined construction we were able to use our existing manufacturing processes to create our carefully tuned internal geometry, which provides fantastic flow response and keep the exact same geometry and compatibility as the rest of the E3D ecosystem.Benefits of our WS2 ‘polyphobic’ nano-coating:
- Less build up, particularly of sticky and filled materials to the nozzle cone
- Improved first layer reliability; the slick coating has a reduced tendency to ‘drag’ material, particularly at sharp corners where tracks can peel up
- Slicker, smooth top solid layers with a glassy like finish as a result of the smooth laydown of material
- Easier nozzle cleaning, what little material that does adhere is easily wiped away with a paper towel leaving a very clean nozzle.
